Mom spent thirty one years as a nurse at St. Joseph's, most of them on the night shift, because she said the hospital felt more honest at night. She raised the three of us on that salary and never once made it feel like a sacrifice.
She planned everything about her farewell except how to pay for it, which was very much like her. We are sharing the arrangement here so that the people she cared for over three decades can help us close this last account the way she would have: precisely, together, and with no fuss.
